TORONTO, July 6, 2016 — Jenoptik AG has reported that its Traffic Solutions Division received the order to co ntinue and to expand the operation of digital camera systems for red-light mo nitoring in Canada.

A new co ntract between the Jenoptik subsidiary Traffipax LLC and the City of Toronto, Ontario, will co ntinue 10 years of successful cooperation from 2017 onward. The co ntract will run for a period of five years starting on Jan. 1, 2017 and includes an optio nal extension for another five years. Negotiations will be started soon with seven other municipalities in Canada’s o ntario province, Jenoptik said.

In the City of Toronto, Jenoptik will install 79 additio nal digital camera systems for red-light mo nitoring until the end of this year. Under the new series of agreements, the scope of supply is expected to increase to a bout 250 systems with the other municipalities participating. These systems will be used for replacing existing sites as well as for establishing additio nal ones. According to Jenoptik, the co ntract value for the first five years totals an amount in the mid double-digit million euro range.
